Grief is messy and unpredictable, and it kicks you in the @$$. You can be mourning a person, a relationship, or a job. Your grief is real, not linear, and often very overwhelming. There’s no “right” way to grieve, and you don’t need to do it alone. We can work through this together, acknowledging your sadness and helping you find a sense of stability and peace along the way.

You may be coming from two different cultures and attempting to make your relationship work. You are questioning whether this relationship is worth it. It’s difficult enough sometimes when you come from the same cultural background, let alone two diverse cultures.

You’ve been brought up differently. You may each see the world from another point of view; have contradictory opinions about literature, music or art; maybe political differences as well, yet you connected for a reason. Somewhere along the way, you stopped hearing each other.

It feels as though you are unhappy and unsettled with who you are. You have been fighting with yourself, making it difficult to move forward. You’re allowing your inner critic (also known as your negative voice) to run the show.

We will incorporate Mindfulness in therapy. It is a method of helping you stay in the present moment without judgment. With mindful self-compassion, you’ll explore how to be kinder and gentler with yourself and truly accept who you are. Mindfulness helps you become more aware of your negative voices, which you will realize are NOT TRUE! I incorporate Mindfulness in my everyday life and have found it to be an incredible help to me, and I believe it can help you move forward in your life.

Maybe it started as a way to take the edge off, or maybe it’s been a daily ritual for a long time. Substance use has been affecting your life, relationships, and your mood. You want to make a change.

In therapy, we’ll discuss what you’ve been going through and find the root of the issue so you can begin to heal. I’ll listen, provide a judgment-free zone, and call you out on your BS (with love), and I hope you’ll do the same with me.

We’ll focus on harm reduction, where we will work on subtle ways of reducing your substance use. For example, a young man came to see me, who was drinking a fifth to a fourth of vodka a day. By the end of his treatment, he was drinking one can of beer at dinner. We’ll discuss your goals, and I’ll offer insight and resources to help you see yourself out of the woods and back to living the life you want.

Your trust has gone out the window. You’ve grown in vastly different directions, and things feel raw, confusing, and painful. You haven’t been intimate in a long time, and one or both of you have found comfort and intimacy outside of the relationship.
